We are proud to announce that we will be hosting the 2008 Dizzy Dean World Series for 7 year old boys in July. This is a tremendous undertaking with approximately 60 teams competing from across the Southeast. Also, the economic impact for a tournament of this magnitude will be felt throughout the business community. If you would like to help in any way as a volunteer, please contact the recreation office. Our latest project is the acquisition and renovation of the former Oakwood office building. The building was completely gutted and everything is now new. This is an 1800 s.f. structure that will be widely used. The Chamber of Commerce will have an office on the north end of the building. The tennis association will occupy approximately 1/3 of the building. There also will be a meeting room that will accommodate approximately 40 people. Coordinating the use of this building will be Dari Walker. The Parks and Recreation office will now be located here. This building will be a tremendous asset in broadening the scope of recreation for our citizens. In closing, citizen input is welcomed in order to improve our department.
