Welcome to the 2008 Dizzy Dean 7 Year Old World Series.  Your tournament hosts will be the City of Gardendale, AL Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Fultondale, AL Parks and Recreation Department and it will be our goal to create an experience that the players, coaches and families will remember for the rest of their lives.   The tournament will be played in Gardendale and neighboring Fultondale, Alabama on July 17 - July 24, 2008.

The exact format of the World Series will be established by Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc.

Entry into this event is for Dizzy Dean sanctioned teams only. Entries must be submitted on a Dizzy Dean World Series Entry Form and signed/approved by the respective Dizzy Dean National Board Member of your state or a designee by the Commissioner of Dizzy Dean Baseball, Inc. Teams will be required to pay a refundable appearance fee of $250 for this event.  Failure to appear will result in forfeiture of the appearance fee. Your signed / approved entry form and refundable appearance fee, in the amount of $250.00 should be made payable to: Dizzy Dean Baseball World Series and mailed / given to your Dizzy Dean State Director. Your Dizzy Dean State Director will then forward the completed entry with his/her signature to 2109 Moncrief Road Gardendale, AL 35071.  All entries MUST BE RECEIVED BY 12:00 noon July 13, 2008 by the City of Gardendale Parks Department -- Tournament Operations at the address above to guarantee your spot in the Dizzy Dean Baseball World Series

PLAYER CREDENTIALS

All Teams must provide the following upon team check-in.

1)    Proof of Birth

2)    PROOF OF INSURANCE

3)    Medical Release Form (Available thru Dizzy Dean National Directors)

4)  Roster from State Tournament

6)   State Flag or Team Banner for opening ceremonies "Parade of Teams" (OPTIONAL)

Bracket schedules WILL NOT be mailed out in advance. A blind draw will determine the brackets; this drawing will take place during the manager’s meeting at the Gardendale Civic Center, 857 Main Street, Gardendale, AL 35071.  All game schedules and brackets will be posted online after being finalized.

NOTE: (Pre-Tournament Meetings)

Team credential check in will be at the Gardendale Civic Center, 857 Main Street, Gardendale, AL 35071 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Thursday July 17, 2008. Coaches may check in and complete their credentials check in anytime between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Team Rosters and player birth certificates will be verified at this time. Coaches Only.  Coaches’ tournament information packet with detailed information regarding the Opening Ceremonies, coaches’ passes, etc. will be available at the Gardendale Civic Center and must be picked up prior to proceeding to your team credentials check in.

There will be a manager's / coaches meeting at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Gardendale Civic Center. Two representatives from each team will be permitted to attend this meeting.  All teams will be required to have a representative in attendance.  The official schedule for when teams play will be determined by a blind draw at this time. Coaches Only.

There will be a "Team Mom's" meeting at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Gardendale Civic Center. Two representatives from each team will be permitted to attend this meeting.  At this meeting representatives from the Chamber of Commerce of Gardendale and Fultondale, AL will be in attendance as well as representatives from other area attractions to share information regarding "things to do" while your team is in our area. 

A Team Meal will be served at 5:00 PM at Gardendale Civic Center followed by the opening ceremonies at 6:30 PM Thursday July 17, 2008 at the Wachovia Amphitheater (The free team meal will be served to Players and Coaches ONLY. Our concessions will be open for parents and supporters to purchase food). All teams are required to participate in the opening ceremonies and should be in full uniform. Tournament play will begin on the morning of July 18, 2008 at G. William Noble Athletic Complex and Luman Harris Park in Gardendale and Fultondale Sports Complex in Fultondale. See Rule 11:16 Dizzy Dean Rule Book regarding a teams participation in Opening Ceremonies.

There will be a gift exchange before the start of each team's FIRST GAME. Please be prepared with a small gift (i.e. pins, etc.) to exchange with each member of the opposing team.

NOTE: Pin Trading has become a tradition at World Series events. Players will have an opportunity to trade pins during the team social prior to the opening ceremony. Team pins are not mandatory, but certainly adds to the fun of this special event. We encourage each team to bring some small item to trade. Other examples other than team pins include ............ contacting your local Chamber of Commerce for state/city pins...............contacting any Professional Sports team in your area for left over promotional items, etc.

ADMISSION during the World Series will be $6.00 per person per day or $20.00 for a tournament pass.  For children (6-12) the charge will be $3.00 or $12.00 for a tournament pass.  This charge includes everyone except players and team coaches.  A maximum of 4 coaches’ passes will be issued.
